Letter From the Editor

There has been many a time in my life where I turned to the music, the beat, to the feeling of melody traveling over sound. From emotion traveling over rhythm and the feeling it all entails. This is where the idea for this issue has come from. The place in our system, in our body where we need to make the change that is needed. The encouragement, the forward progress which is clearly missing may have been found. The promise that is and has always been found in the music is starting to show itself again. The legendary KRS One said something along the lines that the ice age of the music industry is about to be over so that the ice can melt off the minds of listeners and musicians.

There are times in life, when we need music. When we have turned to it to find solutions, patience, understanding, information or even find our self. That's the beauty of music. Music is a flat plane, where everyone can connect on an equal level. We all find something in a certain artist's music that we can identify with. The beauty of music is that if its words, if its sounds we can identify. The first time we heard a rock song over the radio, went to a concert in the school gym, listening to music while cleaning on Saturday morning. Music does one thing for everyone that is similar: It brings you to a moment, a moment in life where you remember an event. If this song reminds you of a wedding, a funny person, a loved one, a death, the first kiss, when you met your first love. It has always been and always will be music. Do you remember the first time you felt like you and your friends can do all the same things the people on TV can do? Start a band and practice in the garage. You started playing with your friends, playing the same music you saw on TV, heard on the radio, or heard in the car. Music is the uniting factor in so many religions, so many societies. I remember the first time I wanted to play an instrument. I remember seeing someone play the saxophone on television. I remember how people rallied behind former President Bill Clinton after seeing him play saxophone on a late show. In this issue we hope to show you music in many different lights, not just the ones we are familiar with and listen to all the time. We hope to open your mind, your eyes, and your soul to the depths that music can take you to. So sit back, relax, move around the site and see what you want to see. Enjoy our concerts. Check out some of the artists and I hope you enjoy your stay here.

Peace,
Mark
