Submission Guidelines

Literati Magazine is a literary magazine catering to the young urban reader. We publish short stories, poems, online novels, commentary, editorials, book reviews, music original drawings and original photography. Our target audience is young writers/artist between the ages of 16 to 40. Our readers are from all age brackets.

Literati Magazine is published quarterly with each issue published the first week of January, April, July and October. “The Literati” Literati’s magazine’s newsletter is published quarterly with issues published a week before the publication of the magazine.

We accept submissions from published and unpublished writers and artists in short stories, poems, online novels, commentary, editorials, book reviews, music, original drawings, and original photography.

Submission Guidelines:

All submissions should be in Microsoft word format as an email attachment. The title and type of work should be in the subject line of the email. You may include a small bio about yourself or your work either at the end of your work and/or in the email.

Short Stories: Submissions should be 10 pages or less.

Poems: Submissions should 1 page or less.

Online Novels: Submissions should be 12 Chapters and each Chapter between 7 to 9 pages long.

Tru Life: Submissions should be 5 pages or less

Viewpoints: Submissions should be 10 pages or less

Art and photography submissions:

All art and photography submissions should be submitted as an attachment in either a jpg or gif file. You may include a small bio about yourself and/or your work.

Book Promotion

Literati Magazine will gladly promote a self published book or newly published author if we feel that the work is something our readers would be interested in. To be consider for promotion please include a summary of your book along with two sample chapters for review by our staff. Once you have been excepted you will need to provide cover art of the book and a url where the book can be purchased.

Book Reviews

To be considered for a book review you must provide a copy of the book, either in e-book format or an actual hard copy, book cover art, and the url where the book can be purchased.

Music

To be considered as a featured musician you must provide music in mp3 format, album cover art if applicable and sites where your music is posted and/or purchased. If you have a website url of site.

By checking yes to this release you, the author hereby acknowledges that this submission is an original work and is property of the author. Literati Magazine does not assume responsibility for work that was submitted by false means. Those means include but are not limited to submitting someone else's work under your own name, submitting plagiarized work with out proper reference.
All work submitted to Literati Magazine is voluntary and no monetary payment will be distributed for work.
Literati magazine reserves the right to refuse any submission that we feel does not does not coincide with our mission and will not accept a submission that perceives to be offensive to any race, ethnicity, gender, sex and religion. 
All submitted works remain property of author and author reserves the right to remove any submission prior to publication.
Use of submissions:
Literati Magazine reserves the right to use a submission for one issue only. Any subsequent use of submissions requires author's permission.
Literati Magazine will notify author by email on the status of submission, whether submission is accepted for publication and which issue the submission will be featured.
Literati Magazine will request the author's permission to edit work if necessary.
Literati Magazine will notify author by email of any changes or edits that is made to submission and will require author to sign off on revised submission.
Literature Submissions (includes short stories, online novels, tru life, viewpoints and poetry):
All submissions are the original work and property of the author.
All submissions are to be submitted by the author himself. Works submitted on behalf of author will not be accepted.
All submissions should follow submission guidelines those that do not follow guidelines will not be accepted.
Art/Photography Submissions:
All submissions are the original work and property of artist/photographer.
All submissions are to be submitted by the artist himself. Works submitted on behalf of artist/photographer will not be accepted.
Any art or photography using models and/or persons is to be accompanied by a model release giving permission to use image and/or likeness for publication without compensation. Any art or photography submitted without model release will not be accepted.
 
Music Submissions:
All music submissions are to be submitted by the artist or member of a band, or artist/band manager. All music must be the original music of artist/band or give proper credit to artist/band being sampled. 
<strong><i>Literati Magazine reserves the right to reject any submissions that does not comply with submission guideline or that does is not accompanied by a submission release.</i></strong>
